Fall is finally here! And while saying farewell to long, lazy summer days is bittersweet, we’re excited for the beautiful colors and cozy vibe that autumn brings to our environments- both outside and inside. To get a head start on fall décor, we teamed up with Xtraroom design expert and HGTV celebrity Chip Wade, who is preparing for fall in his beautiful Georgia home. Chip gave us his top 10 tips on how to design a cozy space for fall. A helpful hint: Enjoying a pumpkin spice latte while reading this blog brings extreme warm fuzzies.
Tip #1: Fall Wreath
Chip recommends adding a fall wreath to the front door to instantly let your neighbors know that fall has arrived- and you’re unapologetically celebrating. Even if you live in an apartment, spicing up your door makes coming home even sweeter. We love this pumpkin pie fall wreath.
Tip #2: Bring the outdoors in by adding fall foliage and branches to a vase
A balloon vase has never looked better filled with gorgeous fall leaves and branches from around your yard or local park. Not only is this a stylish accessory, but it’s also on trend and affordable.
Tip #3: Plaid is the fad
Plaid is everywhere, in both apparel and home design. Grab several plaid throws and artfully toss over chairs and ottomans for an instant infusion of fall warmth. Store your throws in our favorite Small Cubes from Xtraroom. These adorable cubes, made of solid wood and veneer, are perfect for stacking, arranging, and sitting- the ultimate in multipurpose living.
Tip #4: Display your Fall Bucket List
Fall bucket lists are both fun to read and fun to live out. Chip’s family selects a fall activity from a bucket list every weekend during the season. Display your fall bucket list in a stylish wooden sign for the whole family to enjoy.
Tip #5: Pumpkins, pumpkins and more pumpkins
Fresh pumpkins are the best part of fall, in our opinion. Stock up on pumpkins of all colors and sizes to create artistic displays around your space. Nothing is as chic as a teak wood bowl full of small white pumpkins.
Tip #6: Dress up your Orion Console Table with Fall Banners or Garland
The Orion Console Bed from Xtraroom is so versatile, the possibilities are endless. A queen-size bed that unfolds in seconds, the Orion Console Bed is also available with TV stand, desk and hutch add-ons. Dress up your Orion Collection piece with decorative felt pom-pom garland in rich fall hues to welcome the season.
Tip #7: Pull in Rustic Accessories
If you love the industrial farmhouse aesthetic, fall is the time to pull out your tobacco baskets, magnolia wreaths and galvanized planters to add rustic warmth to your space.
Tip #8: Set your Delphinus Dining Table
If you need a dining table that expands only when needed, look no further than the Delphinus Expandable Dining Table. Go from an intimate table for two, to a full size table for 12, in only seconds. Set the table for the season with these cozy harvest plaid placemats.
Tip #9: Pull warm colors into your accessories
Orange candles, red candles, and warm-toned toss pillows all add affordable autumn touches to your space. You can never have too many pumpkin spice candles, right?!
Tip #10: Light the fire (or press the on switch on your X)
Nothing says both cozy and fall when the weather turns crisp quite like a fire. If a real fire isn’t an option, simply press the on switch on your Virgo Collection Wall Bed with fireplace add-on from Xtraroom. Although you might be tight on space, you still deserve the best the season has to offer.
